EXPERIMENTAL WORKSHOPS
Our two on site hosts Alison and Charlotte offer practical help, encouragement and suggestions rather than formal tuition to help you get the most out of your Arcadia experience. We are offering these workshops as an opportunity to come along and try out your ideas or simply have a creative day with old friends or even make new ones in this beautiful space.
Whether you are a seasoned artist or just starting out Arcadia Experimental Gardens is the place to experience and enjoy the quiet and simple pleasure of capturing nature.

Drawing Workshop
With a focus on creativity and personal interpretation, our workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to explore how to draw, paint or create with some unique combinations and spectacular outcomes while being with nature at Arcadia Experimental Garden.
The workshop will explore and develop a wide range of techniques and styles by using various drawing mediums.

Seasonal Floral Design
Mark the seasons and be inspired by our garden, and choose blooms, foliage and other natural materials to make a floral piece to take home.
Invited floral designers will join us to offer specialist knowledge, design tips and inspiration to bring your ideas to life. Each session will work around a chosen theme and may include participants bringing a favourite vase or other container to use as a base for their work.
Depending on the time of year the session may also include a walk in the Rivelin Valley to collect materials to include in your piece.

Print Making
Come and join us for a day of print making using some basic methods; mono printing, block printing and simple screen printing.
We will use the surrounding environment of the garden and wider natural environment as a starting point for our designs and make experimental prints onto fabric, paper and other materials.
We will provide basic materials for you to print onto but please feel free to bring your own fabric or other materials if you would like to experiment or work on something in particular.

Planting Design Sessions
Planting Design is often made to sound more complicated than it is. Plants are the focus, the stars of this workshop, led by Doug at Arcadia Experimental Gardens! It is all about garden planting – what to plant, where, in what number etc to suit your landscape, soil and climate, rather than the production of a formal design plan. Doug will lead you on a tour of the gardens with time for lots of discussion and questions. Through seeing and learning about many different combinations of plants, colours, textures, and suitable habitats, you will be empowered to understand the design principles and growing conditions you see on-site, which you can then adapt to your own garden.
Special Group Sessions
At Art Arcadia we offer one off group sessions. Get together with family for a special occasion, a team building day with colleagues or just a day out with friends doing something creative and fun in a relaxing and beautiful space.
